Jordan Triples Visitor Temporary Residency Durations

(MENAFN) The Hashemite Kingdom has tripled temporary residency durations for international visitors effective Thursday, expanding permits from one month to three months in a strategic push to revitalize tourism revenues and draw foreign capital.

Interior Minister Mazen Faraya announced the policy overhaul applies to all international arrivals entering via the nation's border checkpoints, with work visa holders being the sole exception. The revised framework enables travelers to obtain three-month residency authorization stamped directly into passports at entry points.

Authorities have eliminated the former system requiring visitors to physically appear at municipal security facilities to renew initial 30-day permits—a bureaucratic hurdle now removed entirely.

Faraya characterized the initiative as a component of comprehensive economic acceleration plans. Extended residency windows are projected to catalyze expansion in the medical tourism industry while providing international business figures additional time to assess commercial ventures within Jordanian territory.

The kingdom recorded approximately 6.1 million international tourist arrivals throughout 2024, with projections indicating enhanced visitor numbers for 2025, based on statistics published by Jordan's tourist ministry.
