US-Israel Warplanes Strike Petrochemical Site in Iran

(MENAFN) US and Israeli warplanes carried out fresh airstrikes on a petrochemical complex in Iran’s southwest on Monday, intensifying a wave of coordinated attacks reported across the region.

According to media, which cited officials in Marvdasht County in Fars province, the strike targeted a facility in Shiraz, leaving a limited section of the site damaged.

The reported attack marked the second strike of the day. Earlier, US and Israeli fighter jets hit petrochemical production facilities in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Asaluyeh, also located in southwestern Iran.

The escalation follows a sustained surge in hostilities since Feb. 28, when the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran. The campaign has resulted in more than 1,340 deaths so far, including Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has launched waves of drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel and extended strikes to Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military infrastructure. Iran has also imposed restrictions on maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns over regional security and global energy routes.
